Summer is here and it is bringing the heat! Heat that means bad news for your vehicle, we’re sorry to say. The warmer months can be terrible for your vehicle and its various systems, so it's important to keep it prepared to handle them without pause or worry! Thankfully, we’re here to help you do just that! Continue reading below to see three of several tips we recommend you employ as soon as possible to keep the summer heat at bay!
One of the most important parts of your vehicle, whether it be hot or cold, is the coolant system. This system is key to keeping it running without issue, as your vehicle can overheat no matter what time of year it is. You should make sure you check the coolant levels, inspect the hoses and connection points, and other key parts of this system to make sure it runs optimally. A cool engine is a working engine, after all.
Your tires are the first contact point between the ground and your vehicle, and as such they get the most impact from hot conditions and hotter roads. You want to make sure you have good tire pressures, no wear and tear, and no potential hole-makers like nails, rocks, etc, jammed in them. Bad tires are known to go flat in this time of year, so plan accordingly for that as well – you never know when you might find yourself stranded.
Finally, you should make sure that your AC is working properly. The hot months don’t just take a toll on your vehicle, they take a toll on you and your passengers as well. You’ll want to make sure the system isn’t leaking, that its fans and filters are properly functioning, and several other key check overs. The last thing you want is to be overheating in a vehicle stuck in traffic with the sun right over your head.
These are just three of several excellent tips you can employ to prepare your vehicle for the summer months as we move forward. To learn more about what you can do, or to have your model serviced by a qualified mechanic, please contact our dealership today!
